Introduction to Biblical Theology

ABOUT THE COURSE

This course constitutes an introduction to the discipline of biblical theology in an evangelical context. It is divided into two sections: (1) the history, definition, task, method, goal, and center of biblical theology; (2) selected themes in biblical theology (biblical theology in action). 2 credits.

Biblical Counseling 2: Marriage, Family, & Common Life Issues

ABOUT THE COURSE

This course is focused on the application of biblical counseling to specific commonly occurring topics, including marriage and the family, sexual sin, fear, worry, communication and conflict resolution, anger, abuse, and medical issues. 2 credits. 

PROFESSOR

Dr. Keith Palmer (M.Div., D.Min., Ph.D.) is a Professor of Biblical Counseling at the Master’s University, and a Pastor at Grace Bible Church in Granbury, Texas. He is also a Fellow (supervisor) and board member of the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.

Introduction to Women's Ministry

ABOUT THE COURSE

This course examines the purpose and practice of women ministering to women. It will survey foundational Biblical texts on women in the church and will deal with topics such as building a word-centered ministry, facilitating discipleship in the church, and women’s ministry being a part of the church under the leadership of the elders. 2 credits.

Interpreting OT Poetry and Wisdom

ABOUT THE COURSE

An advanced genre-focused hermeneutics course for Old Testament law and Hebrew narrative. This course will enable the student to properly comprehend, interpret, and apply Old Testament law and narrative as Christian Scripture. Additionally, the student will learn how to teach and preach Old Testament law and narrative for the local church.   Prerequisite: BIB505. 2 credits.

Exposition of Deuteronomy

ABOUT THE COURSE

An expositional study of the book of Deuteronomy, designed to demonstrate the pivotal role of Deuteronomy as the conclusion of the Torah, the theological backdrop of the Former Prophets, and the soteriological context of the gospel. This course will examine the canonical function, macro-structure, and exegetical breakdown of Deuteronomy through the interpretive contexts of history, literature, and biblical theology. 2 credits.

ABOUT THE COURSE

An examination of how the life-giving power of the gospel animates biblical thinking, godly affections, holy habits, and intentional relationships, especially for those who lead the church. Developing a personal theology and practice of sanctification, this course considers the gospelsaturated, Spirit-enabled disciplines of prayer, fasting, Scripture, fellowship, etc. 2|3 credits.

A prospective credit student at GTS is someone who has not been previously accepted or enrolled at GTS. They choose to take a specific course offered to the public and can earn credit towards GTS degree programs. These students must complete course assignments on the regular schedule. However, it's important to note that credit for these courses will not be awarded immediately. Instead, it will be granted later after the student applies, is accepted, and officially enrolls as a GTS student. Prospective credit students must register and pay for credit when the course is held. They also need to submit their coursework during the class and receive a passing grade to be eligible for credit.

A credit student at GTS is someone who has gone through our one-time application process and been confirmed. They are actively enrolled in courses and are committed to working diligently every semester. Credit students complete multiple readings, assignments, and exams with the goal of earning a Certificate or Master's Degree at GTS. 

An audit student is someone who signs up to attend one-off classes offered by GTS. These students have no obligation to complete readings, assignments, or exams, and they do not receive academic credit toward certificates or degrees for the classes they attend. Audit students typically attend classes for personal enrichment or knowledge acquisition without pursuing formal academic credentials.
